Composite Decking

Composite decking is a low maintenance alternative to wooden decks. These types of decks have a much longer lifespan than the usual wood decks; composite material is made from recycled wood fibers and recycled plastic. Composite decking is considered one of the most durable types of decks available today.

Unlike wooden decks, with composite decks you won’t have to stain, sand, seal, or do board replacement. Another advantage to composite decking is that you won’t have to worry about mold growing and insects gnawing composite like wood decks. Since there is no real wood with composite decking, you won’t have to worry about getting splinters either!

There is also minimal fading to composite decks and the only care that would really need to be done with a composite deck is a quick wash with soap and water.

Trex is an eco-friendly manufacturer that provides durable and easy maintenance composite material. Azek is another company that offers capped wood composite that is also easy to maintain and mold resistance. Most manufacturers offer either a 25-year or lifetime warranty on their composite products.

How to Keep Your Roof in the Best Condition This Summer

The summer is the perfect time to evaluate your current roof. Before getting your ladder and going up to your roof, you should first walk around your home and be on the lookout for any shingles that may have come off during a storm or from the previous Winter. Here are a few more helpful tips for basic roofing maintenance during the summer months.

  • Remove any debris or tree branches that may be on your roof so they won’t damage the exterior.

  • Debris can accumulate in your gutters from previous months such as leaves and branches. Make sure that you clean out your gutters properly to ensure no damage is done to them.

  • Check to see if any of your gutters could have loosened up during strong winds or storms; make sure to tighten all the gutter bolts with a wrench.

  • It’s important to inspect your attic ventilation to ensure that the air is flowing properly to prevent mold and mildew growth.

  • If you notice severe problems with your roof, the best thing you could do is contact a professional contractor to further look into the situation.

The cost of roofing shingles is scheduled to increase in the coming weeks. If you know that you will need a new roof, please call Three Sons Window & Door at 781-899-6353 or fill out our contact form for a free estimate!

Here are some advantages when you add vinyl siding to you home:
